Build 02 Exhibition

The sophomore-level design students at Philadelphia University were asked to participate in a competition sponsored by Wilsonart International as a method exposing them to the professional realm. Within the competition brief, the students were challenged to propose creative solutions for chair designs that celebrated company’s brand. The criteria involved the design and construction of a functional product that incorporated the image of a laminate chip in an abstract, yet recognizable manner. Additionally, the chair was required to be surfaced by Wilsonart laminate a method that exemplified craftsmanship. The design of the exhibition explores process by positioning the final products against a massive backdrop of material exploration imagery. Photos by Clint Blowers.
