Perpetual Calendar

In a world where we are inundated with myriad ephemeral digital tools, this perpetual calendar design creates an enduring and engaging analog alternative. This object consists of a disc with holes demarcating each day of the calendar year. A peg which conforms to the hole size is provided to mark the current day. Moving the peg can serve as a daily ritual in the home or office, taking us back to a time which predates the digital revolution. The secondary function of the holes is that a note written on post-it or a scrap of paper can be easily be rolled up and inserted to mark an event such as a birthday. This discrete design allows one to view the entire year in a single glance with the understanding of which dates to look out for. Photos by Elizabeth Lamark.
